Safety policy

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulates aviation safety in Australia, including drone use.

CASA also provides a facility to report unsafe drone operations.

Safety breaches can only be investigated where there is sufficient evidence, such as photos or video recordings of the breach and the person controlling the drone at the time. Any evidence you can capture at the time of the incident will help support the investigation process.

RPAS and AAM Strategic Regulatory Roadmap

CASA has developed a Strategic Regulatory Roadmap for remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) which sets out its long-term plan for safely integrating these technologies into Australia’s airspace and future regulatory system, alongside traditional aviation.
