Safety

Understanding how to report drone safety concerns in your community.

Safety concerns

Rules are in place to ensure safety in the air and on the ground. All drone operators should be aware of the rules and responsibilities that apply to them before flying. These rules can be found on the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) website.

Community members who witness unsafe drone behaviour are encouraged to report this via CASA's website. This form should be used when you think drone operations might have broken the safety rules.

Safety breaches can only be investigated where there is sufficient evidence, such as photos or video recordings of the breach and the person controlling the drone at the time. Any evidence you can capture at the time of the incident will help support the investigation process.

CASA takes the lead on drone safety

CASA is responsible for all safety regulations relating to the operation of drones. For more information and to learn about the drone safety rules, please visit CASA's website.
